Position the Tourniquet: Place the tourniquet high and tight, approximately 2-3 inches above the bleeding site on the injured limb. If the bleeding is at or near a joint, place the tourniquet directly above the joint.
Secure the Strap: Wrap the strap tightly around the limb and insert the tip of the strap into the buckle. Pull the strap tight to minimize slack.
Tighten Until Bleeding Stops: Twist the windlass rod until the bright red bleeding stops. This may require several full rotations.
Secure the Windlass: Once the bleeding has stopped, secure the windlass rod in the windlass clip to prevent it from unwinding.
