Match the cutting accessory to the material and machine

A size match is only the first check. The cutting design and material suitability must also match the workpiece. Confirm whether the accessory is intended for metal, wood, masonry or another specified material and whether it fits the tool's chuck, arbor or holder.

For tapping, check the thread system, pitch and required preparation rather than choosing only by outside diameter. For blades and wheels, use the permitted size and speed rating in both the tool and accessory instructions.

Can one bit drill every material?

Use the bit manufacturer's listed applications. Different cutting geometries and materials serve different jobs.

Will a tap fit a similar-sized bolt?

Thread diameter, pitch and thread system must all match.

What makes a cutting wheel suitable for my tool?

Verify the permitted diameter, arbor connection, wheel type and maximum operating speed.
